Product Size / Strength Recommendations: We recommend using approximately 1 ounce for every 5-10 gallons of the grease traps capacity (example: less than 30 gallon trap use one 3 oz. block, 30-60 gallon traps use two 3 oz. blocks, 60 to 90 gallon traps use one 8 oz. block, etc.) 100-500 gallon trap size use one 4.5 lb. block. 500-1000 gallon trap size use two 4.5 lb. blocks. 1000+ gallon trap size use three 4.5 lb. blocks.

For Best Results when using X-Tra Power Grease Trap

1. Determine gallon capacity of trap
   1. Measure trap in feet- multiply depth x width x height
      (ex. 2 ft depth x 3 ft. Width x 3 ft. height)
   2. Multiply cubic feet x 7.5 to calculate gallon capacity.
      (ex. 18 cubic feet x 7.5 = 135 gallons)
2. Determine the distance from the sink to the trap. The smaller the distance, the hotter the water flowing into the trap and the faster the block will dissolve. If the trap is within 5 feet of the sink, use no smaller than an 8 ounce block. DO NOT PLACE BLOCK UNDER INCOMING WATER.
3. Determine the types of food flowing into the trap. Large pieces of meat and vegetable are hard for bacteria to digest quickly. Additional blocks may be required for larger food items.
4. Clean trap prior to block placement. If this is not possible, double the block dosage.
5. Block placement
   1. Put block in water- DO NOT put in top layer of grease. Block needs to dissolve in water.
   2. DO NOT place block directly in front of the water intake area. This will dissolve the block prematurely.
   3. 4 ½ lb. block can either be placed at the bottom of the trap or suspended by a hook as long as it is submerged in the water.
